iPhone 2.0 software and iPhone 3G!!
I'm really excited about the announcement of 2 new development regarding the iPhone.
Firstly the coming release of iPhone 2.0 software, which will be a free update for all iPhone users. Most significant in this update is the inclusion on the SDK (Software Deveopment Kit) which means you will be able to download (free or pay for) independently developed applications for the iPhone. I can't wait for this update!
Secondly is the release of iPhone 3G. Yes, the second generation of the actual physical iPhone itself. As the name indicates it has 3G incorporated for double-the-speed browsing and downloading. It also has GPS. It is also available in 16Gig, as well as 8Gig. Sweet.
For me I think I will stick to the 8Gig Gen1 I currenty have, and save over time for the 3G model, seeing that I can upgrade any time between July and October and just restart my current 18month contract (Thank you O2).
Also, exciting news for people outside of the 6 countries iPhone is currently only available in. iPhone 3G will be released in 22 countries on 11 July, and will spread to 70 countries in the next few months, AND it will be a maximum of $199 in all countries.
If you are really interested in what's going on with iPhone and want to know more about new features in both the software 2.0 and iPhone 3G, go watch this video. It's very long (1.5hours!) but very well worth it:
